Instantaneous Memory Innovation From IBM

Published by Valerie3496 points  on 2011-06-30
IBM has developed a new type of phase change memory (PCM) that can read and write data at 100 times the speed of today's ubiquitous flash-based solutions. The media is reliable for millions of write cycles. Flash memory degrades after thousands of writes. The cost is low enough to encourage use in inexpensive mobile devices.

The technology needs further development, but expect another data storage paradigm shift within the next five years.
